Aman Verjee is the Chief Operating Officer for 500 Startups, the most active venture capital invests in the world. 500 Startups had made over 1,800 investments in over 60 countries all over the world; its portfolio includes Twilio, Credit Karma, Grab Taxi, Stripe, Talkdesk, Intercom, Reddit, and Angelist. Founding partner Dave McClure has been on the Forbes Midas List of 100 Best Venture Capitalists I the World for the past two years.

Aman joined 500 Startups from CAN Capital, a leader in small business lending that provided over $1 billion in funding to small businesses annually. Under Aman’s leadership, CAN Capital obtained and managed $850 million in financing, from two sources: a warehouse line and senior debt facility from 12 banks (including Wells Fargo, Morgan Stanley, JP Morgan, Barclays, UBS and SunTrust); and a securitization that was rated as investment grade by S&P and DBRS.

Prior to that, Aman was the Chief Financial Officer of Collective, Inc., a late stage advertising technology company backed by Accel Partners, Greycroft, iNovia Capital, Samsung Ventures and Cox Media Group. In that role, Aman led the finance, legal, facilities and IT departments, was Secretary of the Board of Directors, and led the company through an S-1 filing. Prior to joining Collective, Inc., Aman was Chief Financial Officer of Sonos, a consumer technology company that builds wireless sound systems for houses. Sonos is a privately held company that has raised over $400 million in equity from investors including KKR, Redpoint Ventures, and Index Ventures.

Prior to joining Sonos, Aman held various finance and operating roles at eBay, Inc., a global online marketplace, and at PayPal, an online payments provider. In his roles there, Aman led the strategy teams at PayPal and at eBay’s Marketplaces business units, and served as the divisional Chief Financial Officer of eBay’s North American Marketplace business.

Aman previously served as a consultant with McKinsey & Company, a management consulting company.

Aman holds an A.B. in Public Policy from Stanford University, and a J.D. from Harvard Law School. Aman taught economics at Harvard University’s Department of Economics, where he was a two-time winner of the Derek Bok Award, given to instructors for excellence in teaching based on feedback from students.
